The difference between a Hardware and Software firewall

Software Firewall - A firewall provided by software which relies on a hypervisor’s CPU power to process packets.

Hardware Firewall - A firewall external to your hypervisor which is usually dedicated to managing packets and will be considerably more efficient.

Our VPS-GAME and GAME CLOUD services come with OVH’s GAME Anti-DDoS solution which is a hardware firewall dedicated to UDP traffic.

All of our vServices come with a software firewall, provided by our hypervisor Proxmox, to help you manage your servers traffic.
